The assignment for my next project - A game based of the Film Ex-machina This assignment is unique in that it offers students the opportunity to create an original IP using inspiration from a different creative medium. Ex Machina provides lots of nuance and subtext that can be extracted into game ideas. You have the freedom to choose the genre, the concept and how the game shall play. The idea will need to be formally pitched, to secure funding of time. There are three distinct stages throughout this assignment. You are expected to contribute during all three stages to ensure you receive the marks allocated to the group.

  1. The elevator pitch; sell your game and get it green-lit
  2. The game’s development
  3. The play-test session where the work will be graded and you demo it

For this assigment I formed a group of 4 with other coursemates and had to make a game idea based around the film exmachina. We had to produce along with the game itself:

  1. Game Design Document (GDD)
  2. Techinal Design Document (TDD)
  3. Trailer/Gameplay video
  4. Worklogs (Gannt Chart)
