The first post about Audio Visual Production
Task #1 - Skills Audit
Here is the skill list with a brief description and my experience with said skill:
Capturing movement using a camera. I’ve never filmed anything other than a basic stop-motion animation 7 years ago. Also some screen recording (if that counts).
The process of rearranging and manipulating video shots to create something new. The only aspect of video editing I have done is adding music to some recoridngs.
Capturing Audio using microphones and a Digitial Audio Workstation (DAW). I’ve done as-level Music Technology and do a fair amount of live sound engineering for bands in my spare time.
Adding effects to videos during the editing process such as smoke or blood. I have never created my own visual effects.
Creating 3D models within software such as Maya or Blender. I have made and textured model tank in maya.
The process of capturing sucessive drawings or models in motion to create the illusion of continuous movement. I have made a simple lego stop-motion animation of macbeth (mentioned above).
The process of improving an image for presentation by changing aspects of the picture such as: contrast, colour and saturation. I have never done any colour grading.
Removing blue-screen and green-screen backgrounds to replace them with another virtual background. I have never done this before.
Live capturing a person’s movements and mapping them onto a virutal skeleton so that I can be used for animations. I have never motion captured before but I have seen it donw.
Creating a display of particles to simulate a real-world affect such as fire and clouds. I have used partciles affects in games and written my own system to simulate rain in Unity and Unreal 4.
The process of create levels in a video game. I have made mutliple levels before for a variety of video games i’ve made.
The process of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books. I have done a limited about of graphic design at school.
Applying textures to 3D models. I have done some basic texturing when 3D modeling a tank.
A program which shades a model with appropritate colour and light levels. I have written some basic pixel and vertex shaders in directX11
Planning out a story using rough sketches to visualise each key part of the story. I have done a small amount of storyboarding.
Organising a team of people when working together or a project. I have managed projects many times when making games.
